Filament winding process

Filament winding: a continuous fiber or cloth tape impregnated with a resin glue is wound onto a core mold according to a certain rule, and then solidified and demolded into a process of reinforcing a plastic product.


1. Raw materials:

Filament winding resin: unsaturated polyester resin (pipe and storage tank),bisphenol A epoxy resin (normal temperature internal pressure vessel), phenolic epoxy resin or aliphatic epoxy resin (high temperature container), bismaleimide Resin (aerospace products);


Reinforcing material: alkali-free, medium-alkali roving;


Mandrel: steel mold or plaster mold.


2. Classification of filament winding


Can be divided into three types: polar, helical and hoop winding.


. Hoop winding

The mandrel rotates at a constant speed around the shaft, and the guide wire head moves parallel to the axis direction in the barrel portion. The mandrel is rotated one turn, and the guide wire is moved by a width (approximation) of the yarn, and is cycled until the yarn is evenly covered with the surface of the mandrel. It can only be wound in the barrel section, and the head cannot be wound.


When the winding angle is less than 70°, the width of the yarn is required to be larger than the diameter of the mandrel. This is also the reason why the winding angle of the hoop winding must be greater than 70°.


. Helical winding

The mandrel rotates at a constant speed around the shaft, and the guide wire reciprocates in a direction along the axis of the mandrel at a specific speed. Not only winding in the barrel section, but also winding the head. The filament winding trajectory consists of a spiral of the cylinder segment and a spatial curve tangent to the pole hole on the closure.


.Polar winding

The guide wire head moves in a uniform circular motion in a fixed plane, and the mandrel rotates slowly around the self-axis. The guide wire head rotates one turn, and the mandrel rotates by a slight angle, which is reflected on the surface of the mandrel to approximate a width of the yarn sheet.


3. Line type


When helical winding (circumferential winding and longitudinal winding can be regarded as special cases of spiral winding), the fiber introduced by the guide wire head starts from a certain point on the mandrel, and the guide wire head is entangled back to the original after several round-trip motions. On the starting point. Thus, the primary (non-repetitive) wiring completed on the mandrel is referred to as a "standard line." The standard line reflects the basic line type of the winding law.


Each piece of yarn has only one tangent point on the circumference of the core of the mandrel. In a complete loop, there is only one tangent point around the pole hole, called a single tangent point. In a complete loop, there are more than two tangent points called multi-cut points. Since the core mold rotates at a constant speed, the guide wire head has the same round-trip time each time, so each tangent point on the circumference of the pole hole equally divides the circumference of the pole hole.
