The general method of artificial stone usually includes the following two steps.
The most basic components of artificial stone are water, cement, fine crushed stone, coarse crushed stone, color pigments and chemical admixtures. Mix these materials together and stir them to mix them thoroughly. Then pour the mud into the mold to dry. After hardening, it looks like a natural stone carving. Different colors are formed according to the pigments poured, and artificial stone can be formed into different types according to the addition of rough stone and fine stone.
Because the artificial stone is mud before drying, the structural integrity can be improved in a concentrated manner. Like concrete or cement, artificial stone is also reinforced with steel bars or other tools, and this step is used when pouring into the mold. In this way, the artificial stone can withstand stronger, but it still maintains the appearance of the stone. In addition, the cost of artificial stone can usually be much lower, and can be shaped according to personal wishes.
Simple process for artificial stone production: raw materials are unsaturated polyester resin, fillers and pigments: (1) resin. The resin of artificial stone is divided into surface layer and structural layer. The surface decorative layer resin requires small shrinkage, toughness, hardness, heat resistance, wear resistance, water resistance, etc. At the same time, it needs easy toning. Octyldiol o-benzene resin is used for artificial stone, and octanediol m-benzene resin is used for producing sanitary ware. Curing system, commonly used methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, cobalt naphthalate solution. (2) Filler. There are many fillers for the production of artificial stone. The fillers for the production of artificial marble are marble powder, quartz powder, dolomite powder, calcium carbonate powder, etc. The fillers for the production of artificial granite are gradated with granules, and different varieties of granite use different colors The granules and the filler of the producer agate must have certain transparency. Generally, aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxide are used. (3) Pigments. For the manufacture of artificial marble or artificial agate bathtub, heat-resistant and water-resistant color paste should be selected. When manufacturing decorative boards and handicrafts, light-resistant, water-resistant and durable pigments should be selected. In addition, the mold materials used to produce artificial marble and granite slabs include glass steel, stainless steel, plastic, glass and so on.
Artificial stone products have a short production cycle and low cost, and are widely used in various indoor and outdoor architectural decorations. Artificial stone came out in the United States 30 years ago. The earliest application of artificial stone products as decorative materials in my country was in some developed coastal cities in the mid-1990s. It was widely popular a few years later. Now this boom is spreading to small and medium-sized cities in the Mainland. Artificial stone is mainly used in: kitchen countertops, bathroom washstands, window sill countertops, door and window covers, coffee tables, baseboards, bar counters, TV countertops, etc. It is a new green and environmentally friendly building material that replaces natural marble and wood.
