Quartz stone resin curing and curing system

Jun 08, 2020

Article Summary: Resin transfer involves injecting resin into a closed mold and placing reinforcement materials in the mold in advance. This can be done in a mold at ambient temperature or in a mold that is heated externally to cure at high temperatures.

Resin transfer involves injecting resin into a closed mold and placing a reinforcing material in advance in the mold. This can be done in a mold at ambient temperature or in a mold that is heated externally to cure at high temperatures.

The curing system of quartz stone resin mainly depends on the time required to fill the mold and the allowable peak heat release for a given part thickness. The gel time of the resin formulation is related to the required injection time.

In order to monitor the curing, the curing agent also provides a peroxide with a red indicator that disappears during the curing step, the so-called vanishing red (VR) level. This material is particularly suitable for vacuum foil injection process. It can visually check whether peroxide (resin is red) is mixed in the injection step, and can monitor the curing process during the curing process because the red color disappears.
