The advantages and disadvantages of the SMC composite molding process.


The SMC composite molding process is one of the high production efficiency in the FRP composite molding process. The SMC composite molding process has many advantages:
1. The molding cycle is short and suitable for mass production.
2.Closed mold molding, no styrene and glass fiber scattering, good working environment.
3, the molding process is simple, easy to mechanize and automation, even without skilled workers can form.

4, can form large products. SMC molded products are accurate in size, smooth in surface, good in appearance and size repeatability, and complex structures can be molded at one time, and secondary processing without damage to products.

However, the shortcomings of the SMC composite molding process: the use of presses, metal molds, heating devices, etc., the initial equipment investment is large. Therefore, SMC composite materials are generally used in the manufacture of small FRP cooling tower shells, and large FRP cooling towers are mainly produced by hand-gluing, jetting, RTM and other FRP forming processes.
