Nowadays, as domestic energy reform and low-carbon economy are accelerating, new industrial fields have begun to use industrial unsaturated polyester resin composite materials in large numbers in the fields of rail transportation, high-speed railways, urban construction, green buildings, and wind power development.
Foreign enterprise product applications are concentrated in the high-end market
In 2013, the concentrated distribution of unsaturated polyester resin production in the domestic industry was Jiangsu, Guangdong, Fujian, Shandong, Zhejiang, Hebei and other places. Jiangsu temporarily continues to lead the country with an output of 1.02 million tons; followed by Guangdong with an output of over 300,000 tons; Fujian with an output of over 250,000 tons; Zhejiang’s enterprises are small in scale, with more environmental impacts suspended, and output declined in recent years.
The production of unsaturated polyester resin foreign-funded enterprises in China reached 190,000 tons, and their applications are concentrated in the mid- to high-end market. The largest domestic production company is still Yabang Paint Company, which achieved 240,000 tons throughout the year, followed by Tianhe, Futian, Hua Xun, Zeyuan, Fang Xin, etc., with a total output exceeding 650,000 tons. From the analysis of the overall technical trends of industrial unsaturated polyester resins, Jiangsu and Shanghai are still the largest R&D and manufacturing OEM bases in the country. SMC/BMC resins, wind power resins, desulfurization resins, shipbuilding resins, and structural resins of foreign-funded enterprises in Jiangsu are still leading the country, and have driven the technological improvement of Jiangsu's entire industry.
As the national OEM base, Jiangsu Province mainly produces low-cost p-benzene resin and air-drying DCPD resin. The two types of OEM resin can reach more than 100,000 tons. In recent years, the country has attached great importance to environmental protection. The growth of vinyl ester resin has accelerated. Jiangsu and Shanghai have reached more than 20 large and small enterprises. The preliminary national output statistics are 43,000 tons.

Domestic high-performance unsaturated polyester resins are in the state of high-speed development to meet the high-end market application requirements of high-performance fiberglass composite materials. Lightweight subway, high-speed railway, boat vehicles, wind turbine blades and other structural lightweight requirements have promoted the performance of unsaturated polyester resins to low viscosity, low exothermic peak, high strength, high fatigue resistance, high flame retardant performance, etc. Development; Lightweight structure also drives the development of low-density, injection-grade SMC/BMC resins. Problems such as serious environmental pollution need to be resolved
China's unsaturated polyester resin industry is facing new opportunities in the next ten years. This opportunity comes from two aspects: First, as the world's largest developing country, China has to catch up with developed countries such as Europe, America and Japan. China's glass fiber composite materials The industry needs a transfer process from low-level to high-level. However, at present, there are only more than 160 industrial polyester resin manufacturing enterprises in China, with less than 20% of scale and less than 15% of enterprises with independent innovation ability. Two-thirds of them are private enterprises and private enterprises. Many small and medium-sized resin enterprises waste water and waste gas at random, polluting the environment; enterprises are seriously lacking in R&D talents and testing equipment, and the formulas are "plagiarism" and "stealing peach for plum" to reduce the performance of the resin to "meet" the "low cost" of the market The production process of these enterprises lacks refinement and safety management, accidents continue to occur, raw materials and product testing lack the necessary means and standards, and the quality of the resin is unstable.
The unsaturated polyester resin industry and the glass fiber industry are like two melons on an evergreen vine, which is an inseparable whole. Nowadays, China's industrial composite material industry is facing a new period of transformation and upgrading. China's unsaturated polyester resin industry must accelerate its follow-up.
