Instructions For Use Of Ion Exchange Resin In Water Treatment Technology

1. Resin preservation method

   Ion exchange resin cannot be stored in the open air. The storage temperature is 0-40℃. When the storage temperature is slightly lower than 0℃, clear saturated brine should be added to the packaging bag to soak the resin. In addition, when the storage temperature is too high, not only will the resin be easily dehydrated, it will also accelerate the degradation of the anion resin. Once the resin loses water, do not add water directly when using it. It can be soaked in clear saturated brine, and then gradually diluted with water to wash away the salt. Keep it moist during storage.

   2. Resin pretreatment

The new resin to be used in the column should be washed repeatedly with hot water (clean tap water is sufficient). The cation exchange resin can be heated at 70-80℃, and the heat resistance of the anion exchange resin is poorer, which can be 50-60. ℃ hot water. When you start soaking, change the water every 15 minutes. Stir it from time to time. After changing the water 4-5 times, you can change the water every 30 minutes. Change the water 7-8 times in total. The washing water is not brown, and the foam is low.

After washed with water, and then treated with acid and alkali, the cation exchange resin can be treated as follows:

   Use 1N hydrochloric acid to slowly flow through the resin, the amount is about 2-3 times the volume of the strong acid cation resin, and 1.5 times the bed volume per hour.

   Rinse with water, the pH of the effluent is about 5, and use 3 times the volume of the resin to flow through the resin with 5% NaCl solution at the same flow rate as 1.

   Use 1 N NaOH to flow through the resin, the amount and flow rate are the same as 1.

   Rinse with water until the effluent PH is about 9.

   Use 1N hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to convert the resin to H type, the amount is 3-5 times the volume of the resin, and the flow rate is the same as 1.

After the acid flow is finished, rinse with deionized water until the PH value of the effluent is above 6, then it can be put into use.

   For the acid and alkali treatment sequence after washing the anion exchange resin, the order of alkali→acid→alkali can be adopted, the amount of acid and alkali, and the flow rate. The strong base resin corresponds to the strong acid resin, and the weak base resin corresponds to the weak acid resin.

   3. Resurrection treatment of resin

  In the process of using ion exchange resin, after a period of operation, the effluent quality and the exchange capacity tend to decrease gradually. This is generally caused by contamination of the resin during operation. In the refining of wastewater and biochemical substances, the composition is more complex and the resin is more susceptible to pollution. Therefore, appropriate measures should be taken for resuscitation treatment. According to different situations, different resuscitation treatment processes should be adopted.
