Method For Calculating The Amount Of Hand Lay FRP Resin

The amount of resin used in hand-fiber reinforced plastics is an important process parameter. The amount of resin required for paste can be estimated based on the quality of the glass fiber. If chopped strand mat is used, its rubber content is generally controlled between 65-75%. For example, when glass cloth is used as the reinforcing material, the rubber content is generally controlled between 45-55%.


The amount of resin used for hand lay FRP can be calculated by the following two methods.


(1) According to the calculation of the principle of void filling, the formula for calculating the content of glue can be calculated. Only by knowing the mass per unit area of the glass cloth and its equivalent thickness (a layer of glass cloth wants to be the thickness of the product), can the glue content of the FRP be calculated


(2) Calculate the quality of the product first, and then determine the percentage of glass fiber mass.


①Product surface area × thickness × fiber reinforced plastic density = product quality:


Product quality × glass fiber mass percentage = glass fiber quality;


Product quality-glass fiber quality = resin quality.


②Product surface area × glass fiber layer × glass fiber unit area mass = glass fiber mass;


Glass fiber quality ÷ glass fiber percentage = product quality;


Product quality-glass fiber quality = resin quality.
