Storage Method Of Ion Exchange Resin

Ion exchange resin is a common water treatment material, and its preservation measures are also very important. Here are two kinds of preservation, unused resin storage and running resin preservation:


   1. How to store unused ion exchange resin


  1) Long-term storage of resin method


When ion exchange resin is stored for a long time or needs to be stored for a long time in deactivated equipment, strong resin (strong acid and strong basic resin) should be converted to salt type, and weak resin (weak acid and weak basic resin) can be converted It is the corresponding hydrogen type or free amine type, and can also be converted to salt type to keep the resin performance stable. Then soak in clean water.


  2) Resin preservation method for discontinued equipment


   If the water needs to be drained, it should be sealed to prevent the moisture in the resin from losing. The ion exchange resin contains a certain balance of moisture, which should be kept moist during storage and transportation to prevent dehydration. The resin should be stored indoors or covered, and the ambient temperature should be 5°C-40°C. The bagged resin should avoid direct sunlight, keep away from boilers, heaters and other heating devices to avoid dehydration.


  3) Preservation method of resin with dehydration phenomenon


  If it is found that the resin has been dehydrated, do not put the resin directly in water, so as to prevent the dry resin from swelling and breaking when exposed to water. According to the degree of dehydration, slowly add about 10% salt water to the resin, and gradually dilute with clean water after soaking for several hours.


  4) Resin thawing method


   When the ambient temperature is 0°C or below, in order to prevent the resin from cracking due to the freezing of internal moisture, heat preservation measures should be taken, or according to the temperature conditions, the resin should be stored in salt water of corresponding concentration to prevent freezing. If it is found that the resin has been frozen, it should be slowly and naturally thawed. Do not apply mechanical force to the resin.


  2, used resin preservation method


  Long-term useless resin storage method in the tank:


In order to prevent the irreversible contamination of the resin by microorganisms (such as algae, bacteria, etc.) for the resin placed in the exchanger after being out of service for a long time, the resin must be completely regenerated and backwashed before it is out of service to restore the resin to the unused level. In the use state, the suspended matter accumulated during operation can be removed by backwashing, and attention should be paid to regular flushing and water change during the non-use period.


   Anion resin: Use 3 times the resin volume of 10% NaCl+2% NaOH mixture to pass through the resin layer twice, let it stand and soak for several hours each time, and then drain it. If necessary, rinse the resin layer with a 0.2% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution of 2 times the volume of the resin before restarting.


   cation resin: 0.5% formaldehyde solution can be filled in the cation exchanger and piping system, and the concentration will be maintained during the non-use period. It can also be soaked in salt water. Rinse with 0.2% hydrogen peroxide or 0.5% formaldehyde solution before restarting the equipment.
