At present, vinyl ester resins are mainly used in corrosion resistance, land and sea transportation, electrical insulation and radiation curing processes. According to the China Epoxy Resin Industry Association, in the application of chemical anti-corrosion equipment, vinyl ester resin has good acid resistance and alkalinity. The side hydroxyl groups on the resin molecules have good adhesion to glass fibers and good permeability, so they provide good protection for glass fibers, can fully exert their high strength performance, and avoid the shortcomings of insufficient corrosion resistance. In addition, the resin has high elongation and good toughness, which reduces the damage during transportation and installation, and has better application effects than other resins. It can manufacture chemical storage tanks, pipes, containers, casings, chimneys, absorption towers, scrubbers, etc., and is widely used.


For example, a sulfur dioxide scrubber with a diameter of 4.17m and a height of 3.05m in a pulp mill is made of vinyl ester resin and can be used for a long time at 82°C. The smelter uses flame retardant vinyl ester resin to make a chimney with a diameter of 3.43m and a height of 122m. It is stacked with a 13.7m long fiber winding tube and installed in a cement chimney. There are no damage cracks during the installation. It is still intact for seven years. . Products made with phenolic epoxy vinyl ester resin have good corrosion resistance, solvent resistance and high temperature resistance. The equipment manufactured by it has been used under high temperature (140℃) for more than 10 years. It is also widely used in tanks and pipes for industrial wastewater pollutants. For example, large corrosion-resistant trailer tanks are made of this resin on the inner wall and flame retardant resin on the outer wall.


As early as 1978, vinyl ester resin was used in the manufacture of winding pipes in a paper mill. The pipeline transports wastewater with a temperature of 40°C, a pressure of 0.69 MPa, and a pH of 5 to 9.5 to a wastewater treatment plant half a mile away. After the pipeline is built and used, no leakage has occurred. The resin is also commonly used in high-temperature chlorination equipment or caustic alkali purification and storage equipment, such as sulfonation plants, industrial waste treatment plants containing various solvents, and solvent extraction plants for mining. Other applications are transportation, liners for tank trucks and rail cars, oil and gasoline storage tanks and liners.
